We
certainly appreciate you volunteering to help elect
Billy Yow to the US Congress, District 6.
As a
volunteer, we realize that you will incur some out of
pocket expenses, and we appreciate your help in
complying with the federal election rules relating to
those expenditures. While you are volunteering, any
meals that you purchase for yourself are not considered
a campaign contribution. Additionally, travel expenses
that total less than $1,000 are also not considered
campaign contributions. The campaign committee does not
reimburse these expenses. If you have incurred travel
related expenses that exceed the $1,000 threshold,
please notify the campaign Treasurer immediately.
As a
volunteer, if you would like to host a “meet and greet
the candidate” function in your home, the costs of
having such an event, up to $1,000 is not considered a
campaign contribution. Any costs incurred beyond the
$1,000 threshold would be considered a campaign
contribution and would have to be reported as such on
the finance reports. If you host an event of this
nature, you must let the campaign Treasurer know
immediately if the total cost of the event will exceed
$1,000.
As a
volunteer, you can accept contributions on behalf of the
campaign. There are specific rules relating to the
acceptance of campaign contributions, these are:
1. Cash
can be accepted, up to $100.00 from any single
person. Any cash accepted must be accompanied by a
“cash contribution” sheet with the information
completed, and turned in to the Treasurer within 10
days of receipt.
2. Contributions
by personal check are the preferred method. When
accepting a check, note that it MUST be a personal
check, and MUST contain the contributors name,
address, phone number. If the check is for an
amount that exceeds $200.00, you MUST indicate the
occupation and the employer of the contributor.
Please use a reasonable method for noting this
information with the check.
3. The
maximum contribution for any single contributor is
$2,400.00. If a married couple wishes to give more
than the $2,400.00 then there are 2 methods for
accepting such a contribution. The first is to ask
for 2 separate checks, one from each, with each
signing their own check. The second and least
preferred method is to get 1 check and have both
individuals sign on the signature line. This
requires that both names be on the account.
4.
Corporate
contributions are NOT allowed in any fashion.
5. Contributions
from partnerships and LLC’s acting as partnerships
are allowed with special rules for their
acceptance. If you have a partnership or LLC that
wishes to make a contribution, please contact the
campaign Treasurer for instructions relating to
accepting these funds.

contributions are allowed from Foreign nations, or
illegal aliens.
7. ALL
contributions are not considered accepted until
reviewed by the Treasurer. The Treasurer will
review each contribution and determine the
acceptability of the contribution. Those

to the contributor by the Treasurer.
